On July 7, Chairman Shi Yuanyuan presided over the Shenzhen Cell Valley 2023 Mid-Year Summary Meeting. Attendees included Chief Scientist Wang Jianxun, Assistant to the Chairman Wei Zheng, Shenzhen Cell Valley Production and R&D Director and Executive President of wholly-owned subsidiary Junhou Bio Feng Yaru, Quality Management Director Zhang Xuefeng, Deputy Quality Management Director Li Rongyou, Deputy Head of R&D Sun Rui, Head of Sales Yang Borui, Sales Supervisor Yan Chengkun, Marketing Supervisor Gulnara Halmou, Head of General Affairs Shi Yunzhu, and Director of the General Administration Office Luan Zhishi. The entire mid-level and senior management team reviewed the achievements of the past six months and looked ahead to future development directions.
In the first half of the year, Shenzhen Cell Valley achieved remarkable results and abundant fruits:
1 Approved as a Shenzhen Biopharmaceutical Industry Major Public Service Platform: the One-Stop Cell and Gene Therapy CRO/CDMO Service Platform – South China Cell Factory. A total of 5,000 square meters of GMP-grade retroviral vector production base and GLP-grade laboratories have been completed and are about to be put into operation.
2 The viral vector CDMO platform expansion project of wholly-owned subsidiary Junhou Bio was fully completed and put into operation, with a total of 2,000 square meters of GMP-grade retroviral vector production base officially commissioned.
3 Approved as a technology-based small and medium-sized enterprise, continuously expanding cooperation with industry-academia-research institutions in the field, and accelerating achievement translation.
4 Wholly-owned subsidiary Beijing Jing-Shen Cell Valley was registered and established, dedicated to building an industrial park covering the entire cell and gene therapy production chain, opening up one-stop services across the upstream, midstream, and downstream, enabling relevant enterprises to complete the full-process service system within the park—from original innovation to early R&D, preclinical research, process development, GMP industrial production, clinical research, and new drug application—without leaving the park.
5 Jointly explored automated batch production of retroviral vectors and CAR-T cells with the National Engineering Research Center for Key Common Technologies in the Cell Industry.
6 Jointly carried out development of retroviral vector testing-related projects with the Shenzhen Institute for Drug Control.
7 Added over 30 new cooperating institutions including Peking University, Zhejiang University, Guangdong Pharmaceutical University, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Enkaisai Pharmaceutical, Qiling Biotech, and Bettehabo. Operating revenue increased 10-fold year-on-year, and order value increased 20-fold.
8 Approved as a university student internship base, and discussed joint cultivation of high-quality talent in cell and gene therapy-related fields with multiple universities in Shenzhen.
With more than half of 2023 behind us, all departments have worked together, actively carried out their work, and united in collaboration, making important contributions to the company's development. During the meeting, department heads presented reviews and summaries of their respective departments' work in the first half of 2023, and reported on work plans and objectives for the second half of the year.
Subsequently, Chairman Shi Yuanyuan fully affirmed the achievements of all departments in the first half of 2023 and outlined work arrangements for the second half of the year. Shi Yuanyuan noted that the teams at Shenzhen Cell Valley, its subsidiary Junhou Bio, and its subsidiary Jing-Shen Cell Valley have steadily expanded to nearly one hundred people, and departmental work has gradually achieved process optimization and efficiency improvement. Going forward, greater emphasis should be placed on employee training and team building, stimulating employees' work enthusiasm and creativity, building high-performing teams, and strengthening internal management. At the same time, with customer needs at the center, the company should focus on quality service and be committed to providing better products and service quality, bringing tangible benefits to the enterprise and society. In the face of the rapid development of the cell and gene therapy industry, the company should further strengthen internal and external cooperation and exchange, especially strategic partnerships with industry leaders, enhance innovation capabilities and market adaptability, and improve the company's overall competitiveness and sustainable development capacity.
This mid-year summary meeting further clarified Shenzhen Cell Valley's direction for the second half of the year. All employees of Shenzhen Cell Valley will work hand in hand, embark on a new journey, achieve new leaps, strive together for the company's continuous advancement, and make positive contributions to the high-quality development of China's cell and gene therapy industry.
